The monument includes a Bronze Age bowl barrow, one of two barrows situated on the top of a ridge 230 metres south of Compton Barn. The barrow has a mound of 26 metres in diameter and 0.6 metres high. The The quarry ditch surrounding the mound which provided the material for the mound's construction is no longer visible on the ground surface but will survive as a buried feature 3 metres wide.
