The nearest postcode is an aid to location, and does not necessarily reflect the actual address of the monument. Most scheduled monuments are not occupied buildings and have no postal address or postcode of their own. In rural and coastal areas, the nearest geocodable postal address may be several miles away.
Lyscombe chapel was probably on the monastic route between the abbeys at Abbotsbury and Milton, and may have begun as a stopover for passing monks; it is said that the rent they paid to the local landowner was twelve fish a year. The chancel of the chapel dates from the C12, but the nave was almost totally rebuilt in two stages in the C15 and C16.
