Wayside cross known as Baysdale Cross on Middle Head Intake 1000m south west of Baysdale Abbey

A Scheduled Monument in Westerdale, North Yorkshire

Baysdale Cross

Uploader's Comments

This cross stands about 1 mile south of Baysdale Abbey. All that remains is the medieval base and broken parts of the shaft, one of which has been stuck in the base.It stands beside an ancient track known as the Flagged Road, it would have acted as a guide to remote Baysdale Abbey. Nothing now remains of the Abbey itself, the location is now a farm and holiday homes.
