The monument comprises the remains of a burial cairn of prehistoric date.
The monument lies partly on rough pasture and partly in arable farmland at around 180m OD; a fence bisects it from NNE-SSW. It comprises a cairn some 25m in diameter, although possibly originally somewhat larger, with a maximum surviving height of about 1.2m.
Human bones were found inside the cairn in the 19th century and it is likely that further burials will survive within and below the monument which is characteristic of Bronze Age burial mounds in eastern Scotland.
The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible remains and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 60m as marked in red on the accompanying map.
