The monument comprises the remains of an enclosed settlement of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.

The monument lies on level ground in arable farmland. It comprises a sub-circular enclosure, some 60m in diameter, within a ditch some 4m wide. Such enclosures are characteristic settlement forms of the later prehistoric period in southern and eastern Scotland.

The area to be scheduled encompasses the enclosure and an area around it in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is circular with a diameter of 90m as marked in red on the accompanying map, and excludes above-ground structures associated with power-lines.
