The monument comprises the remains of two ring ditch houses of prehistoric date represented by cropmarks visible on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies on level ground at around 25m OD overlooking the Montrose Basin. It comprises the remains of two ring ditch houses. The larger of the two measures some 10m in diameter within a ditch approximately 2m wide. The smaller ring ditch lies some 6m S of the first and has a diameter of approximately 8m and a ditch some 1.5m wide.
Both features appear to represent the remains of former timber roundhouses. The surrounding area is rich in the remains of prehistoric settlement. The area to be scheduled encompasses the visible features and an area around them in which traces of associated activity may be expected to survive. It is sub-rectangular, measuring 70m NNW-SSE by 55m, as marked in red on the accompanying map.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to add to our understanding of prehistoric settlement and house construction. Its importance is greatly enhanced by its association with the wider landscape of prehistoric settlement in the area.
