The monument consists of the remains of more than one phase of late Bronze Age or early Iron Age settlement, and includes remains of six unenclosed houses, of which two, close together, comprise the homestead, and areas of cultivation remains of the type called ?cord-rig?. The area now to be scheduled is irregular on plan, of maximum dimensions 300m NNW-SSE by 270m transversely.

The monument is of national importance as a rare example of an unenclosed settlement which appears to display development over time and is associated with evidence for contemporary agricultural practices in the form of narrow rig cultivation. The monument offers potential for the study the development of rural settlement types over time and the economics of marginal farming systems in the first millennium BC.
