The monument comprises a cairn of prehistoric date, visible as a grass-covered stony mound.
The monument lies in rough pasture at around 260m OD. It comprises a roughly circular cairn measuring about 10m in diameter and standing to a height of about 0.5m. One orthostat measuring about 1.1m in height protrudes from the south side of the cairn. Cairns of this type are buriual monuments dating to the Neolithic and Bronze Age, and may be expected to contain at least one burial as well as material relating to their mode of construction and use.
The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 30m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.

The monument is of national importance because of its potential to contribute to an understanding of prehistoric burial and ritual practices. Its importance is increased by its proximity to other monuments of broadly contemporary date.
