The monument comprises an enclosed settlement of prehistoric date, visible as a series of cropmarks on oblique aerial photographs.
The monument lies in arable farmland on the summit of a low rise, at around 45m OD. It comprises an irregularly-shaped ditched enclosure, measuring about 85m E-W by 75m within a ditch up to 5m wide. There appears to be an entrance on the ENE. There is a curving cropmark within the E part of the enclosure which appears to represent the remains of a souterrain about 25m in length. A second curved cropmark, at the western end of the enclosure, may indicate a second souterrain or the remains of a former timber roundhouse. Souterrains are subterranean structures generally regarded as having been used for storage in later prehistory.
The area proposed for scheduling encompasses the remains described and an area around them within which related material may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 135m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
