Description

The monument comprises a stone circle of prehistoric date surviving in woodland.

The monument lies in a partially overgrown clearing within a conifer plantation at around 75m OD. It comprises a sub-circular setting of ten stones with an internal diameter of about 8m. Only five of the stones remain upright, the others either having been displaced or having been deliberately placed in a recumbent position. The stones measure between about 0.6m and 1.75m in height, with the tallest of the upright stones on the SW.

The area proposed for scheduling comprises the remains described and an area around them within which associated deposits may be expected to be found. It is circular with a diameter of 40m, as marked in red on the accompanying map extract.
