The monument comprises the remains of a settlement and field system of the Bronze Age or Iron Age, some 2000 to 3000 years old. There are three circular house stances c. 12m in diameter; one is slightly cut by a modern track. The field system consists of clearance cairns, well defined field banks and hollow ways. Two areas are to be scheduled. The western is triangular, measuring a maximum of 120m WSW-ENE by 85m transversely and the eastern area measures a maximum of 690m E-W by 420m N-S. Modern field boundaries and tracks are specifically excluded from the scheduling.

The monument is of national importance as a well preserved settlement and field system which has the potential to enhance considerably our understanding of prehistoric settlement and agriculture. It is of particular importance because of the survival in the area of possibly contemporary sites; comparison could increase considerably our knowledge of the organisation and development of the prehistoric landscape.
